Structure & Shape

  • Kondai Style: The crown features a distinctive curved, asymmetrical silhouette often referred to as a Kondai Kireedam (resembling a stylized side-bun or forward-leaning hair arrangement typical of specific Hindu deities .

  • Base & Finial: It starts with a sturdy, cylindrical vertical base that curves smoothly upwards and forwards, culminating in a large, bulbous, ribbed spherical section. The very front tip is crowned with a sharp, pointed finial (kalasam or shikhara).

Artistry & Ornamentation

  • Material & Color: The entire piece is made of highly polished, brilliant yellow gold (or gold-plated metal) featuring intricate relief work.

  • Lattice Patterning: The main body of the cylindrical base is completely covered in a dense, finely textured diamond-grid or lattice-like engraving, giving it a rich texture.

  • Gemstone Embellishments: The front face is adorned with a central teardrop-shaped motif inlaid with vibrant gemstones:

    • Two prominent green class stones (simulating emeralds).

    • One central red class stone (simulating a ruby).

    • A square-cut red stone embedded right at the lower base rim.

  • Ribbed Detailing: The large bulbous upper section features dramatic, deeply sculpted diagonal ridges (gadrooning) that catch the light beautifully, separated by textured borders.

  • Decorative Borders: The bottom rim and the transition seams are framed with vertical fluting and beaded line details, showcasing traditional temple jewelry craftsmanship.
